DUBAI – A viral video showing a woman involved in a dangerous road stunt has led to strict action from Dubai Police after it surfaced on social media, drawing widespread concern over reckless behaviour on public roads.

The footage showed the woman driving while her female passenger sat on the vehicle’s door in a highly unsafe position to capture photographs. The act quickly sparked criticism as it placed both individuals and other road users in serious danger.

Authorities said the behaviour reflects a troubling trend of using moving vehicles as props for online content, where a few seconds of attention-seeking can turn into life-altering consequences.

Warning

Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, said the incident highlights the severe risks associated with distractions and unsafe positioning inside moving vehicles. He stressed that roads are not designed for filming or stunts, warning that sudden braking or loss of balance can instantly result in severe injury or death.

He added that any part of the body extended outside a moving vehicle significantly increases vulnerability, especially at higher speeds or during unexpected road movements.

Officials reiterated that safety compliance remains essential for all motorists and passengers.

Penalty

Following the circulation of the video, specialised traffic teams swiftly identified the woman driver and summoned her for investigation. The vehicle was subsequently impounded, and a formal traffic violation was issued for driving in a manner that endangers life, safety or security.

Authorities confirmed penalties of a Dh2,000 fine, 23 black points on the driving licence, and a 60-day vehicle seizure. Police stressed that enforcement actions will remain firm against any behaviour that compromises road safety or violates traffic laws.
